You already know the strategy isn't executing.
The priorities announced in January and half-staffed by March. The initiative with full leadership support that quietly became someone's side project. The capable team that keeps producing results that are adjacent to what the strategy asked for rather than directly in service of it. The instinct is to look at execution — accountability, project management, better check-ins. The problem is almost never execution. It's architecture.
Strategy drifts because the structures running underneath it — the budget, the incentive system, the decision rights, the organizational conversation — were never aligned to execute it. None of that is invisible once you know where to look. The Strategy in Action Intensive gives you the tools to look — and to change what the architecture is producing.
What you'll work through
- The four stages of strategy drift — Translation Loss, Gravitational Pull, Narrative Drift, Resignation — and how to read which stage you're in
- The House of Strategy — the alignment model that connects every initiative to the mission, vision, or purpose it's supposed to serve
- Five signals worth reading — how time is spent, where budget flows, what gets rewarded, which decisions move, and what doesn't get said
- The REAL framework — Resources, Exchange, Authority, Language — four structural elements that address the root causes of drift
- The Strategy Cadence Habit — Read, Name, Move — fifteen minutes, every week, no meeting required
Each module ends with a single reflection question. No writing required — just honest attention.
After this course you will:
- See strategy drift as an architecture problem, not an execution problem
- Diagnose which drift stage your organization is in and what the path forward requires from there
- Apply REAL to any strategy you're responsible for — budget, incentives, decision rights, language
- Run the Strategy Cadence Habit to keep the architecture honest week to week
This course is for leaders and practitioners who have watched a well-designed strategy stop executing — and who want a structural explanation for why that keeps happening and specific tools to address it.
